Picturesque Delamore House (circa 1890) and popular retirement village, Delamore Retirement Community, located in one of Brisbane’s most historic Catholic precincts, transferred by the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (mfic Sisters) to Ozcare on 28th February 2022.
The entire team at Ozcare warmly welcomes staff and residents from Delamore Retirement Community. It is our privilege to be entrusted to take stewardship of Delamore. The mfic Sisters are a missionary group and Delamore House has been their leadership hub and foundational headquarters since 1935.
Dedicated to caring for those in real need, the Sisters felt by the 1990s Delamore House was too big for their needs. The Sisters asked the Archbishop at the time what the greatest need would be. He said it was aged care. Since 1990, it has been home to a growing number of retirees, including the Sisters.
Located in Kedron, Delamore Retirement Community offers 1, 2 & 3 bedroom independent living units (46) and serviced apartments (18) to over 65s.
The Sisters who are ageing and reducing in number, feel very strongly that the 60-plus people who rely on them for their homes and who have put their trust in them, should be in the safe hands of a Catholic provider.
The Sisters are confident that Ozcare is the right organisation for Delamore. They will proudly continue to minister to retirees from their chapel on site.
We look forward to continuing the 32-year legacy of Delamore Retirement Community and we are dedicated to ensuring that the esteemed reputation of the mfic Sisters and the spirit of Delamore; warm smiles and good friends, continues.
