Celebrating Women Everywhere

Today marks International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements.  And what better way to celebrate than by featuring the success of one of our very own, Anna Gorgijeski, Ozcare’s Head of Retirement Living.

We’re blessed in Ozcare to have a remarkable team of women who work and lead in a diverse range of roles across the Ozcare community.  Every woman’s story is unique and how we reached our place in life varies dramatically.

So many of the women across Ozcare are truly inspirational and have overcome some major hurdles to be where they are today, juggling the demands of personal and work lives, raising families and many studying on top of it.  Anna is one such woman, a woman who leads by example and inspires and supports the growth of so many around her with her energy, warmth and passion.

Anna started with Ozcare in 2004 and has held a number of roles over the last 18 years, all the while embarking on her own journey as a mother, unarguably one of the most important jobs in the world.  Today, Anna is the proud mum of three beautiful children, Matthew, Kate and the cheeky but adorable Elizabeth.

Anna’s earlier roles in Ozcare spanned the wide-ranging fields of Human Resources and Systems and Innovation and provided her with a strong base of knowledge across Ozcare’s operations and the aged care sector.  Developing an in-depth understanding of the industry’s day-to-day challenges have proven invaluable and allowed Anna to successfully traverse multiple roles across the organisation.

Always looking for the next challenge, Anna’s drive saw her step up to manage Ozcare’s construction team, no mean feat for a female!   A woman taking on a leadership role in construction is not something we see every day but Anna owned the challenge and achieved great success in the role over many years.

Originally from Macedonia, Anna says, “I am who I am because of my life! My ambitious nature, surrounding support, and leadership of many people I have been fortunate to work with and be inspired by have helped lead me to where I am today”.

Anna’s family made the courageous decision to move to Australia to provide their family with a safer and better life.  “Watching my parents struggle and navigate language barriers through those years empowered me to reach for the skies – I often tell my children they are so lucky to live in Australia.”

“My experience from my work roles, completing an MBA, family beginnings, and, more importantly, being a mother – have empowered me to take on challenges where I would shine.  I want my children to know and trust that they can achieve anything at any time of their life – you just need to set your mind, commit, follow your passion and take every opportunity to grow”.

We couldn’t agree more!

As we celebrate today, let us come together and acknowledge the achievements of women everywhere, and take a moment out of our day to encourage the special women in our own lives.
