Short Term Aged Care Accommodation

Move in temporarily to one of our aged care homes to experience life with us before deciding on permanent care. We can also accommodate you if your carer is unable to look after you for a short period of time.

All of Ozcare’s aged care facilities located throughout Queensland offer residential respite care. Respite care stays in our facilities typically last for a few days to a number of weeks. You can either book your stay:

  • In advance, if your carer is going away on a planned holiday or travelling interstate;
  • On short notice, if you’ve been in hospital and need more complex help than your carer can provide, or if your carer is unwell.

The government sets a maximum stay of 63 days but this can be extended in special circumstances.

All of our respite care clients who move in temporarily to one of our aged care facilities, receive the same aged care support services as our permanent residents.

Reasons to Use Residential Respite Care

If you have been considering aged care assistance and moving into a nursing home, using residential respite care allows you to try out an aged care facility for yourself.

Select the aged care facility that you’re interested in and experience first-hand what it’s like to live in residential aged care. You will be living with other residents, be cared for by the same staff, and can get involved in the various activities on offer.

Carer Benefits

Carers can take advantage of residential respite care, safe in the knowledge that the person you care for is well looked after and safe while you go on holiday or are otherwise unable to provide care.

Our staff are there 24-hours a day to provide assistance with eating, dressing, nursing, activities, and anything else that is needed. Contact the friendly team at Ozcare today to learn more.

Eligibility

Ozcare’s residential respite care services are available to people who have been approved for residential care by the Australian Government’s Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). ACAT will discuss your needs, provide you with information about your care options, and advise you of your eligibility for subsidised services.

Contact My Aged Care for more information.

Cost

Respite care residents pay a basic daily fee of 85% of the single basic Age Pension, which is payable a week in advance. If you have booked respite at short notice we will work out a payment arrangement with you.

If you are a veteran, you may be eligible for subsidised services. Contact the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to find out more.
